AKNC General Manager Condoles With Crash Victims And Families. Thanks Gov. Emmanuel,
His Deputy And Others.

The General Manager of Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation, (AKNC), publishers of Pioneer Group of Newspapers, Information Drive, Uyo, has condoled with the families of staff who were involved in a fatal autocrash along Airport Road, Uyo, Wednesday.
Mr Umoette Umoette, who is also the Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of Pioneer Newspaper, in an emotion-laden statement made available to newsmen described the incident as unfortunate and regrettable. The staff went to Ekpene Ukim in Uruan Local Government Area, for a traditional marriage of the daughter to one of the administration staff. Their vehicle is said to have swerved and somersaulted several times along the airport road, leading to the death of four staff and many others in various degrees of injury.
Umoette expressed the deep concern of the management over the development and prayed God to give the affected families the fortitude to bear the loss.
He also prayed for quick recovery of the staff, who have sustained injuries.
The GM/EIC pledged the resolve of the management to do all within its ability to assist the affected families.
The AKNC boss thanked Gov Udom Emmanuel for his quick intervention, saying without the governor's fatherly gesture, the situation would have been worst while the casualty figure would have been alarming.
Umoette said the governor's approach to issues of the state vis-à-vis the welfare of the citizenry have been legendary, praising him for being there for the AKNC.
"The governor's personal visit to the hospitals and his words to the affected staff have been a booster to not only the victims of the crash but the entire AKNC family," Umoette said in the statement.
He equally appreciated the deputy governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, for personally visiting the hospitals and giving the victims words of consolations.
Umoette also applauded the secretary to the state government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, the head of civil service, Elder Effiong Essien for the show of love and solidarity with the AKNC family in "our moment of grief."
The AKNC boss lauded the commissioner for information, Sir Charles Udoh for standing by the corporation right from when the incident was brought to his notice till now.
To the commissioner for health, Dr Dominic Ukpong, Umoette had this to say: "We don't know how to thank you but your swift response, administrative expertise, professional coordination, devotion and dedication gave us hope and brought many of the staff back to life. Thank you and may God continue to bless you."
Umoette appreciated the state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Comrade Amos Etuk, the Pioneer Chapel chairman, Mr Etebong Akpan, management staff, other sister unions, journalists, friends of The Pioneer, clergymen, groups and individuals for their visits, text messages and calls during the period.
Umoette appreciated the medical doctors, nurses and personnel of the General Hospital, Ituk Mbang, the Chief Medical Consultant, (CMD), and staff of Ibom Specialty Hospital, Uyo, for their prompt responses and attention to the victims.
He prayed God to bless them and stand in for them in their moments of despair.
